It’s anickname that was given me a long time ago by myfriends and its origin is in my childish appearance.I would translate this nickname into something likeBabyface. It’s very funny when some people fromall over the world usually think that Niuniek is mysurname or name and call me like that.Tattoo Media: Where do you work?Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:I live in south-eastPoland in Jaroslaw. It’s a small but beautiful townwhere I grew up. Though I travel a lot this is theplace where I find peace and quiet. All my familylives in Jaroslaw and I also run my business there.Tattoo Media: Are you Married? Do you haveany Children?Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:I’m married for overten years with Magdalena. She’s an English teacherin High School and a great fan of tattoos and mywork. Magdalena supports me every day and risesour nine year old son Igor. He is my love and pride.Igor loves drawing and playing the piano but he’salso a pretty good swimmer and takes part in manyswimming competitions.Tattoo Media: If so, would you ever want yourchildren to become tattoo artists?Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:As I said my son lovesdrawing and does it very well. He even won thefirst prize in a drawing contest for children fromthe whole country but I’m not sure if I want himto become tattoo artists. It’s hard and demandingjob that involves stress, travelling and neglectingfamily. If he chooses this profession I will teach himeverything I know but I will never push him into thisbusiness.Tattoo Media: Do you work with others oralone (Are you a shop owner?)Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:Three years ago I’vedecided to open my own workshop Rock InkTattoo in my hometown and till now I’ve beenworking alone. Unfortunately it’s impossible todo it considering the fact that more than a half ofeach year I spend on guest spots abroad. I wantto respect my Polish clients who must wait almost4no171w w w.tat t o o m e d iai n k . c o ma year to make an appointment that’s why I’vedecided to employ somebody to work in a shopwhen I’m away.Tattoo Media: Do you work by appointmentonly?Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:I think it’s impossibleto work without making an appointment. Doing agood and planed in detail tattoo takes a long time. Most clients must meet first to present their visionthen I make some sketches or a project for theassent. Luckily, there are more and more clientswho trust my creativity and undergo my visionand I can create something unique especially forthem. Moreover, as I said before I travel most ofthe year and I must make appointments with clientsaccording to my guest spot schedule.Tattoo Media: Did you complete a formalapprenticeship? - If you did complete a formalapprenticeship, where and with whom?Andrzej Niuniek Misztal:I didn’t completeany formal apprenticeship but I’ve always loveddrawing. Since I’ve been a child I spend hourssketching or drawing. It’s surprising that I didn’tchoose to educate in School of Arts but I’ve hadanother passion - music so I’ve decided to graduatefrom School of Music. Afterwards, I studied atthe department of music. I play drums, piano andguitar. I relax composing and playing the piano. I’ mw w w.tat t o o m e d iai n k . c o mno1715
