He debuted the scooterin 1987 as a showcase for his then new engraving business. Over time more work was added, as well as gold plating to the chromework and also one-off custom piecessuch as the rear brake pedal, rear floor runner hangers and horncast badge, another skill Pete would become known for.The name was inspired by Rhapsody in Blue, a 1924 musical composition by American composer George Gershwin which combines elements of classical music with jazz.Pete’s engraving celebrates the music, complemented perfectly by artwork from Ken Rothery of Ken’s Customs that depicts musical score as well as legends LouisArmstrong, Fats Waller, Glenn Miller and Billie Holiday.Unfortunately, a careless car driver with an inability to avoid crashing into scooterists knocked Pete off Rhapsody after the Weston-super-Mare Rally in 1988, writing thisscooter off. Pete however began building Rhapsody and Blues Reprise based around a Lambretta Grand Prix model, using a few parts salvaged from the Series 2.www.scootering.com |3CoNteNtsWelcome to the informative frontsection ofScootering,jam-packed full ofuseful stuff from news and reviews to productstested, opinions, readers’ letters, musicreviews and plenty more besides.03Kickstart06From the ArchiveRhapsody and Blues, 1988.92We ride the latest Lambretta tuning kit fromItaly, and check out its dyno graphs.Tested –Casa SS225 Kit98Staff Scooters –Part 3Vespa Rat RodRichie investigates wiring and cabling hisproject 1950s Douglas Vespa.16Competition!2230Return of theRosa BiancaWin riding gear from Shoei, Spadaand Caburg worth over £700 in total!100Specialist Services10210 ScooterRally Essentials105Scooter TraderTime MachineWin tickets and accommodation forDISC 30 worth over £250!Another competition! Not yet finished your winterproject?
